2007
in Review
Greetings, Friends and Family,
As 2007 comes winding down
to a close, I thought it would be fun to share some of our stories
from this remarkable year. I know Matt & were out of touch with
a lot of people, and for those who we were in touch with, we were
often busy and leaving out a lot of details. Well, here's a little
bit about what our year was like.
2007 started off on a bit
of a wrong foot, or thumb actually. Right before Christmas 2006, I
was seeing a hand surgeon about a lump about the size of my thumb
that was growing in my thumb. Well, by the end of January, it was
out and boy was I glad. It took several weeks to get full use of my
right hand back, but thankfully I'm a lefty. Still, I was basically
one-handed for a while, and once recovery was complete, I was busier
than a one-armed wallpaper hanger.
Right before the surgery,
my Rover Crew had its first birthday. We celebrated with an open house
and a food drive. We collected over 40 pounds of non-perishables to
give to a local kitchen, which was wonderful thing for a crew of five.
In February, Matt and I painted
the dining room a lovely shade of "Dawn's Early Light" -
on the advice of Jay who understands decorating much better than I
do. We also found ourselves a rock maple china cabinet similar to
my mother's but more in a country style... and we got it for a steal
for $150 at Finder's Keeper's Antiques in Old Saybrook. We're really
proud of ourselves!
In March, Jeff and I went
backpacking - my first time in almost 20 years! It was incredible!
We got an inch of snow and ice that night, totally totally amazing.
In April, we took a bunch of friends out to Wolf's Den for a day hike.
Check out my crew's website to see pictures of all these events at

May of course is the kickoff
of camping season at Hillside in Pennsylvenia, and Matt and I are
very involved in this process. For the last several years, we've volunteered
to assist with transport, setup, and breakdown of the club gear which
gets us an extra day of camp for free.
